Strategic partnerships are a foundational aspect of operating a modern business. Each new partnership unlocks new opportunities, enhances market presence for both companies and drives innovations.
System Liquidation thrives partially because of our strategic partnerships. Whether working with other refurbishers or supporting environmental practices, we’ve created and strengthened meaningful partnerships with several organizations.
As a tech refurbisher, lacking the right partnerships makes accomplishing our mission significantly more challenging: providing the highest possible quality refurbished PCs and laptops.
Instead of trying to go alone, we team up with tech companies, recyclers, and other refurbishers to continually push the refurbishment industry forward — to benefit consumers and businesses looking for eco-friendly devices.
So, let’s explore these partnerships and how they each help us provide our customers with high-quality, reliable refurbished computers.
System Liquidation’s Strategic Partnerships
System Liquidation has teamed up with several companies over the years so we can enhance our refurbishment processes, create more sustainable practices, and support the refurbishment industry overall.
We’ll be breaking down a few of our strategic partnerships that help advance the world of refurbished laptops and PCs.
Microsoft Authorized Refurbisher
The Microsoft Authorized Refurbisher (MAR) program is offered to select refurbishers. It gives them access to Microsoft engineers, the ability to offer genuine Windows 10 and 11 installations on refurbished machines, and access to advanced training.
Becoming a MAR is not an easy task, as Microsoft carefully evaluates every applicant, scrutinizing several core processes in their refurbishment processes. The processes for how units are inspected, repaired, and tested are audited, along with quality assurance.
We’re proud to be one of the few MARs in North America and work closely with Microsoft to solve advanced issues, participate in ongoing training and support, and evolve our refurbishment processes as new capabilities become available.
For our customers, we’re able to provide the highest quality refurbished PCs, laptops, and other devices thanks to this partnership. Beyond the machine itself, the hard-earned certification gives you confidence that our industry-leading processes will give you a dependable, quality computer.
Refurb.io
System Liquidation focuses on the United States, so our sister company ca.Refurb.io caters to the Canadian market. We work together to support the North American refurbishment market, giving customers high-quality alternatives to factory-new options.
Our partnership includes sharing inventory, knowledge, and new tools that emerge alongside technological advancements. Refurb.io is also a MAR, offers an extensive warranty, and strives to support environmental processes — we’re a perfect match.
Ultimately, System Liquidation works toward a future where refurbished tech is a popular, valuable alternative to buying brand-new devices. Together, we can work towards this goal, and every customer is given an opportunity to showcase why refurbished devices are well worth choosing over new ones.
R2v3
Responsible Recycling (R2) is an industry-leading standard and certification developed to guide the recycling of electronic waste, and it is currently in its third version. Refurbishers and other companies involved in selling electronics follow these standards and responsibly recycle them to support environmental sustainability.
Electronics contain valuable materials that can be reclaimed and used again, and at the same time, they also contain materials that are highly toxic to the environment if they end up in landfills.
Sustainable Electronics Recycling International (SERI) develops the R2 guidelines and provides certifications for those who meet their criteria, such as System Liquidation. The R2 requirements for earning a certification include:
- Implementation of robust processes to mitigate any negative environmental impacts related to operations.
- Have procedures for reusing or reallocating electronics whenever possible to extend the product’s lifecycle and reduce overall waste.
- Follow strict data destruction guidelines to ensure the privacy and protection of all customer or company data, which may also be required for other regulatory requirements.
- Downstream management to ensure the entire recycling chain responsibly manages materials at every step of e-waste recycling.
System Liquidation is proud of our R2v3 certification, and we continue to stay on top of the latest standards in environmental sustainability. Refurbishment creates an eco-friendly alternative to buying a new computer, so we’re always exploring any possible way to build on environmental friendliness.
CNB Computers USA Inc.
Our parent company CNB Computers USA Inc. takes a holistic approach to offering IT services to organizations with a focus on leveraging refurbished computers. CNB is able to understand a business's needs, even at the enterprise level, and strategize how to maximize IT budgets with refurbished options.
Additionally, CNB offers IT Asset Disposition (ITAD), which allows businesses to sell used IT equipment to CNB or as credits towards replacing them. Organizations are able to leverage ITAD programs as part of managing IT expenses, effectively trading old devices to pay part of the costs of replacing them.
System Liquidation provides refurbishment to support CNB’s mission of reducing the impact of corporate climate on managing its IT assets. Another service CNB offers is mass deployment of PCs, which involves providing pre-installed and pre-configured machines based on client requirements — we may also assist in these processes.
The mutually beneficial partnership also involves receiving used machines from CNB’s clients, refurbishing them, and then making them available to our customers. We work together to provide sustainable options for businesses and individual consumers alike.
The Value of Partnerships in Tech Refurbishment
Refurbishing Dell desktops, Samsung laptops, or Lenovo PCs is not a small task. We go beyond simple repairs and strive to return every unit we sell to like-new condition.
While it’s possible to refurbish PCs and desktops alone, it’s better to find the right companies for strategic, mutually beneficial partnerships. Let’s explore a few elements of the value of partnerships in refurbishment.
Access to Expertise and Advanced Technology
We certainly have our own expertise, but working with tech giants like Microsoft and e-waste recycling experts like SERI introduces different and beneficial expertise to our operations. Each of our partnerships lets us improve our services without needing to go through advanced training or hire more personnel.
By adopting SERI’s R2v3 standards for managing e-waste, we can streamline our processes instead of developing them from scratch. Earning our certification required adopting those processes and best practices, and now, we’re able to responsibly manage the inevitable waste that’s part of refurbishment.
With Microsoft and CNB, we can gain access to new technologies that may impact or completely transform specific aspects of our refurbishment process. For example, new AI tools may emerge that allow us to test components more precisely, but without these partnerships, we may not find out about these tools until much later than having our partners introduce them to us.
Expanded Market Reach
Teaming up with businesses related to tech refurbishment helps us reach more potential customers, which often works both ways. With Refurbi.io, we’re able to share North American customers while maintaining a presence in both countries. Similarly, CNB allows us to work with enterprise-level clients.
Additionally, while it’s not exactly the same, certifications like MAR and R2v3 give us a stronger market presence. Earning these certifications showcases to potential customers or future partners our dedication to excellence.
Ultimately, partnering with other companies allows both parties to improve operations, reach new customers, and showcase their authority in the industry. For tech refurbishment, each of these elements goes a long way in helping us enhance our organization and team up with companies for everyone's benefit.
Operational and Financial Benefits
Trying to do everything yourself is time-consuming and intensive; that’s why specialization is the backbone of the modern world. Working with the partners we’ve explored above allows us to cut costs, share resources, and enhance operational efficiency.
For example, our MAR certification gives us access to Microsoft engineers for advanced issues that may be time-consuming to try to solve ourselves. We may arrive at the right solution, but being able to contact an expert is significantly beneficial for our operation and customers.
The end result is offering our refurbished PCs for less, as we’ve saved time and money when repairing them. On top of solving advanced issues, we’re also able to utilize best practices for procuring components, disposing of damaged parts through e-waste recycling, and providing our customers with the best possible machines.
